Well, hello, earthlings! How are we doing today? How's the weather? I hope you all are doing fantastic.
As I have said in the previous post, I am now married (what????) and currently living in one of the best cities in the world, Sydney, Australia. Not only that, I had leveled up to the golden age of thirty. I feel like so many things have happened all at once, and I haven't been able to share with you, dear readers, all of this story.
Living here, in a different continent, different country, and obviously different culture, is exciting yet terrifying at the same time. Being so far from family and friends can be difficult, especially when you don't have anyone here. To survive in this city, we both are figuring everything out by ourselves. But isn't that the recipe for an adventure?
The city is stunning. I love the public transportation and the easy access this city offers. Unlike Jakarta, where every building has a gate and a security guard at the front door checking out your bags and glaring with the suspecting eyes, Sydney opens every door to everyone. I can slide inside a building with a t-shirt and flip-flops, and they still welcome me. Perhaps this is what you get in a city where they pride themselves on hospitality.
For someone who likes to stroll around, the pedestrian where I can safely walk is much desired, and Sydney has it covered. They have a spacious pedestrian where I can walk freely without having to worry about cars hitting me. The pedestrian also has a ramp for people with disabilities. When I cross the street, all the vehicles automatically stop to let me pass.
Usually, those are what I post on social media, all the beauty. But the hardship, the struggles, and the cry behind the screen are hidden. The cost of living in such an amazing city is expensive. The weekly rent I pay here can give me a studio back at home, but that same amount can only afford me one room here. Hence, we have to keep working, and if we don't work, we don't have the money to pay the rent.
Not so glamorous anymore, huh?
Either way, this is still an adventure I'm grateful to experience. Living in another country has always been my dream. And with this, I can cross off two countries now, the Philippines and Australia. Can't wait to cross off many more!
