Admirer

The bell rang as I walked into the room. It was quite a sunny day, so I stopped by the coffee shop to drink something cold. I often went here, either alone of with friends, beside they have a very fast wifi, the variety of beverages they served are super delicious, as well as their light snacks.

I sat on the third table. Put my bag on the chair next to me when the waiter came towards with a menu. I ordered a chocolate mint milkshake with extra marshmallow because it's basically what I keep on ordering here.

I swept the room while waiting my milkshake. Then I saw him on the second table, eyes glued to his phone. He was kinda cute. I think I saw him before, but I wasn't sure, sometimes my brain plays trick on me. Then his face looked up and stared at me. I looked away as fast as I can.

I saw from the corner of my left eyes that he got up and started walking towards my table. Crap. He must've think that I'm a creep. Now he sat in front of me. He smiled. I didn't smile back, I was so surprised that he moved to my table.

It was silence for a minute and lots of glances at each other. So awkward. I wished my milkshake had arrived, at least I had something to do to distract what was happening.

I took a deep breath, "Have we met before?" I braved myself asking and break the ice. "You seem very familiar. Do you go here often?"

"Yes, you didn't recognize me?" He said. I shook my head. I never recall ever saw him, although his face seems really familiar, like I've seen him before. "I usually sat on the table number 5, there by the window, good lighting." He continued and pointing the said table.

I squeezed my brain, trying to remember, but really nothing. All I can pulled out was only the feeling that I've seen him before.

"Well I usually brought my laptop with me, I'm a writer at the local newspaper so maybe you didn't see me because the laptop was covering my face. But I always saw you coming here, and every time you walked through that door, it's like a sight for my sore eyes. And I thought I should say hello to you since I've been seeing you here for quite some time." He said the sentence effortlessly, like it was a simple hello.

I chuckled and I could very much tell that I was blushing. Of course, who wouldn't? But then, the horror crept to my mind, he said what? Always saw me coming here? Oh my God, don't tell me. "W-wait, so you saw....?" I asked him.

He nod. "Yep, I saw when you yawned and stretching your hands and accidentally knocked over the waitress and she dropped the plates." He ended with a small laugh. I covered my face out of embarrassment. My life is over. "And watched you when you nodding your head aggressively, I think you listened a music from your earphone. I saw you too when you brought all of your books and do your paper, I remember your nose was so close to the book. The more I watch you, the more I admire you. I-I mean..." He stopped, struggling to compose next sentence, I could sense that he also felt a little bit embarrass saying it. "Now you must've think that I'm a total psycho."

"No, no, not like that. It was just a bit weird knowing someone saw all of those embarrassing stuff I did yet he said that he admired me because of it. And he doesn't even know my name. Do you even know my name?"

"No, but I would like to." He smiled again.
