It's not easy to gain someone's trust because it's a crucial thing, a go signal to let down any defenses they barricade themselves with. For some, it's like giving permission to see all their vulnerabilities and weaknesses, not just those, but everything of their whole being. That's why it's not something they give away carelessly.
There are lots of things they took into consideration when they can finally trust someone. And lots of time as well. Maybe they have issues in the past, holding them back to trust someone again. Perhaps they're still not sure enough, or there's just something fishy about you.
That's why when they finally trust you, they're hoping that you would take care of it since it's something that they hold so dear. It is not something to mess around with, because even giving it in the first place is already hard.
